The strong relationships and mutual respect between teachers and pupils make Colston’s a very special place to study and grow. Our examination results are impressive, but it is of equal importance that our pupils leave us as well-rounded individuals with the confidence to achieve their aspirations.
Our teachers understand the individual needs of each pupil and are dedicated to helping every pupil achieve his or her potential. Our outstanding teaching facilities and impressive grounds provide an ideal environment in which our pupils can explore, learn and excel.
Our most able pupils are supported through our High Achievers Programme and regularly achieve recognition in national competitions. Equally, we support pupils with learning needs through our Learning Support Unit, our strong pastoral system and the individual attention of our teachers.
We believe that, throughout their school life, pupils should be given opportunities to develop and practise the employability and life skills they will need in the future. We offer a number of tailored programmes to develop these skills, including innovative academic enrichment programmes (e.g. Future Leaders, Study Skills, Careers) and we are proud of the partnerships we have developed with organisations such as the University of Bristol, UWE, Bath University, Rolls-Royce, Google and SuperDry. The academic experience of our pupils is further enriched through an exciting programme of trips and visits, including geography expeditions to Iceland, history trips to America, language visits to Spain and France, and art visits to St Ives.
Strong cross-curricular initiatives such as our Shakespeare Day and a whole-school project on the First World War enable pupils to contextualise and synthesize their knowledge and understanding.
