Colston’s School prides itself on its excellent sports facilities and extensive playing fields especially as PE and games lessons are a very important part of the Lower School curriculum.
We encourage our pupils to develop an active and healthy lifestyle through regular PE lessons and in addition to this there are two afternoons of Junior games each week.
Team games such as hockey, rugby, netball and rounders are very popular among our pupils as well as swimming, athletics, tennis and badminton. The pupils have access to the school’s Astro Turf pitch, netball and tennis courts as well as the sports hall and swimming pool.
Colston’s arrange lots of fixtures in a range of sports and cover different age groups which are open for parents and friends to come along and support school matches, both home and away.
Each year we host other schools and hold our own tournaments on the school playing fields for a number of the main sports – it’s a very popular event among the children.
Sporting success at Colston’s has made us very proud of our pupils and over recent years many of our teams have enjoyed success in matches, competitions and tournaments.
Our Under 11 boys' rugby team won the Bancroft School Tournament two years running in 2012/13 and 2013/14. In hockey, the boys have also progressed to the latter stages of the National IAPS Hockey Tournament and in 2013 our Under 11 girls won competition trophies in all three major sports: hockey, netball and rounders.
When pupils reach senior school they are offered the chance to undertake a Rugby tour and a hockey tour in the Autumn Term. This gives the children additional experience of an organised sporting trip away from school.
