Competitive sport is a vibrant part of the sporting ethos at Colston’s School. Our games programme endeavours to promote the physical health and social interaction of all pupils, whilst providing every pupil with the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of team and individual sports.
All pupils have the opportunity to succeed at every level, and those who excel in particular sports are encouraged to represent their school at county, regional and national levels.
At Key Stage 3 skills are taught through practical study. As pupils progress to GCSE and BTEC studies they develop their sporting performance through an improved understanding of sports physiology, psychology, diet and nutrition, health and fitness and explore the wide range of contemporary issues that surround the world of sport.
Colston’s has a strong tradition of inter- and intra-school competition. Regular fixtures are played midweek and on Saturdays against other schools, as well as termly House matches. All pupils are given opportunities to participate in competitive situations, and they are encouraged to develop a regular and active lifestyle that is fundamental to all our lives. Colston’s also offers a wide range of lunchtime and after school sports clubs in which pupils can participate to further their sporting experience.
