Nurturing our most able

Our aim at Colston’s is to develop the talents of all our pupils by involving them in a wide-ranging educational experience. We are very committed to excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits, and we strive to maintain excellent relationships between our fully-qualified staff and pupils and also between school and home.

Throughout the school, we have a gifted and talented policy which we view as part of the school’s commitment towards inclusion and we endeavour to provide an environment where all pupils are enabled to realise their full potential.

Our Upper school offers each child the chance to explore a wide range of activities and educational experiences without being channelled into one particular area. With a wide variety of activities at lunchtime and after school available our children are able to develop themselves independently.

We try to ensure that all pupils have opportunities to develop specific skills or talents and we aim to make learning as exciting as possible because we know that the more fun you have in the classroom, the more you will understand and this helps you to think independently.

Within our Upper School we offer our pupils the chance to take part in an exciting and challenging programme of more than 18 extra -curricular activities. Through these activities we have had pupils win national poetry competitions, played sport at national level and won places at prestigious drama schools, including the Bristol Old Vic. They have also been successful in winning places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

The activities we offer our pupils range from Creative writing competitions and Bristol Schools’ Art Competition to Bristol Academy Rugby Coaching and Maths Masterclasses at UWE.
