A Level Results 2018

Students make the grade with high flying A Level Results

Staff and students at Colston’s School were celebrating this morning after this year’s candidates delivered another set of impressive A Level and BTEC results. The headline statistics clearly demonstrate the hard work and commitment of students with 43% of grades being awarded at A*/A, 73% of grades at A*/B and a 100% pass rate overall. In addition, 21% of students achieved 3 A grades or better and 46% received ABB orbetter.

Colston’s is proud of the diverse range of subjects and courses options available in the Sixth Form; with a number of BTEC courses being offered alongside A Level courses. The results for BTEC courses speak for themselves; with 70% of grades at Starred Distinction (D*) which is the equivalent of A* at A Level and 95% receiving D*/D (Equivalent to A*/A at A Level.) There was success too for the Extended Project Qualification candidates with 80% of EPQ grades awarded at A*/A and 100% achieving A*/B grades.

Headmaster, Mr. Jeremy McCullough, said; “A Level and BTEC grades are the culmination of a lot of very hard work by students and their teachers and we are very pleased with our raw results. However, the real outcome of a Colston’s education cannot be measured in these terms alone and I am delighted that our students have been so successful in so many other ways too. Exam certificates are important these days, but much more important are the personal qualities of our students and I am very proud to have this cohort of young people going on to universities, apprenticeships and gap years.”
